Antebrachiocarpal joint synovial sarcoma in a dog MV&Z
Fonseca Pinto, Ana Carolina Brandão de Campos; Tatarunas, Angélica Cecilia; Chalita, Maria Carolina Catai; Michalany, Nilceo Schwery; Matera, Julia Maria.
Objective: To describe the clinical signs and radiographic, cytological and histopathological findings in a dog presented with antebrachiocarpal joint synovial sarcoma. The literature search was performed in CAB and MEDLINE databases, for the retrospective period of-t8 years. Description: A 9 year-old mongrel intact male dog was presented t0 the Small Animal Surgery Service of the Veterinary Hospital of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science of the University of São Paulo, São Paulo, SP, Brazil, for evaluation of a subcutaneous soft issue mass located cranial to the right antebrachiocarpal joint. Radiographic and cytologicalfindings suggested a malignant neoplasm, which was confirmed by the histopathological analysis to be a synovial sarcoma....

Aplicación del método de zonación morfo-estructural para identificar nudos sismogènicos en la región costera y cadenas montañosas de los andes septentrionales del Ecuador OceanDocs
Chunga, Kervin; Michetti, Alessando M.; Gorshkov, Alexander I.; Panza, Giuliano F.; Soloviev, Alexander; Martillo, Carlos.
Due to the lack of information in the catalogue of historic earthquakes (1951-2010) and also of potential but unmapped faults in the field, the seismic zoning modeling for Ecuador does not define parameters of equivalent attenuations of the tectonic activity of the territory. The aim of this research is to provide new engineering techniques for seismic hazard evaluation. The technique of this study is based on the assumption that strong earthquakes are associated within structural nodes that are specific structures formed around intersections of fault zones. The nodes have been delineated with a morphostructural zoning method, based on the idea that the lithosphere is made-up of different-scaled blocks, separated by mobile boundaries. These blocks are...

Proportions of Hand Segments International Journal of Morphology
Buryanov,Alexander; Kotiuk,Viktor.
The analysis of proportions of hand segments has been carried out on the basis of X-ray films of 66 adult patients without developmental abnormalities. There were hand joint topographies determined proceeding from the data obtained. There were suggested methods of practical utilization of the obtained data in the field of medicine.

Superstructures en matériaux composites ArchiMer
Lelan, J; Parneix, P; Gueguen, P.
Composite materials offer many advantages for the construction of metal hull ships' superstructures (lower weight, higher resistance to fire compared to aluminium alloy, integration of specific functions to the material ...). DCN Lorient has the most of these characteristics to build the "La Fayette" class frigate superstructures. This paper discusses the developments that were undertaken for the choice and validation of the technical solutions retained and particularly the connection to a metal hull. The difficulties to be resolved during the manufacturing and assembly of the superstructures on board the prototype are also discussed. This concept can be applied to other types of ships with metal hulls, by adapting the technological choices to the design...

Testing the effectiveness of tough resin systems for improving structural performance of joints in GRP ships. ArchiMer
Norwood, L; Caulier, C.
A major concern in any composite structure is its ability to resist peel and shear loading; this becomes a more difficult problem where long delays in laminating have occurred or when dissimilar materials are joined together. In the case of mine countermeasure vessels, adhesion between stiffener and hull becomes critical when the ship is subjected to underwater shock loading. In order to reduce costs and improve the hull-stiffener bond, tough resin systems based on urethane acrylates have been developed to replace the mechanical crack-stopping system currently employed. This paper describes the benefits of urethane acrylates in the frame-hull application discussing the level of improvement over the mechanical system.
